Aftercare
Just finished your treatment? Hopefully you're feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and revitalised. But to ensure you protect yourself from any adverse reactions and really maximise the benefits of your chosen treatment, there are a few pieces of aftercare advice you should follow.

Skincare treatments
-
SPF 50+ must be worn at all times
-
Avoid aerobic, vigorous exercise or any activity that will make you sweat until all redness has subsided — usually for 24 hours
-
Avoid saunas, sun-beds, steam baths, massage or any spa environment for 24 hours
-
The same goes for swimming
-
Avoid direct sunlight completely. It is recommended you wear a hat if possible.
-
Cleanse the treated area twice daily with a post treatment cleanser, followed by a serum and treatment cream. Don't forget your SPF 50+
-
Avoid using products that are astringent (e.g. witch hazel, citric acid and salicylic acid) for 2-3 days after treatment
-
Do not rub or pick the skin

Skincare treatments
-
Avoid exfoliating agents such as glycolic acid, retinoids, retinols and vitamin A for 5-7 days after treatment. The same goes for any other highly active products
-
Make up is fine, once skin has settled. This usually takes around 24 hours
-
Avoid electrolysis, depilatory creams, waxing and laser hair removal for 14 days after treatment
-
Avoid any chemical peels or skin treatments for 7-14 days post treatment

Cryofreeze
-
Post treatment, sensitivity can occur
-
Keep the area clean and dry post treatment for 24 hours. However, should the area feel irritated, you can use aloe vera or arnica gel
-
The treated area should not be picked, scratched or rubbed
-
After 24 hours, when washing, use tepid water that's not too hot
-
Avoid all other skincare treatments in the treated area for at least two weeks

A word from Rosa
Depending on the treatment you have had — be it a facial, microneedling course or a peel — some clients may experience redness, tingling, itching, tightness, peeling, swelling and/or burning sensations. These potential side effects are all normal and will gradually diminish over the course of 5-7 days. Before you have any treatments here at BodySense, I complete a medical and lifestyle fact finder to help tailor the treatment to you and your skincare needs. I will also explain all relevant aftercare advice to you, making sure you fully understand any side effects.

If you've had a chemical peel and find your skin is peeling, it can be tempting to pull or touch any loose skin. But please refrain from doing so. If you have had any facial, don't use any soaps other than those recommended until the skin has heeled and normalised. Also avoid hot baths — use warm or tepid water instead and don't rub the skin dry — pat to dry, only.
