We’re calling it—in 2025, injectables are out and non-invasive skincare treatments are in!

“If filler had been a permanent thing, and I wasn't able to reverse what I'd done, I could have genuinely, completely destroyed my face,” said former Love Island star, Molly-Mae Hague, in her recent Amazon documentary, Molly-Mae: Behind It All, about her decision to ditch injectables.

Molly-Mae was of course talking about injectable treatments, like dermal fillers and botox, which have long been used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, lines and contours. But in more recent times, there’s been a shift towards even further non-invasive anti-ageing treatments that focus on prevention rather than cure.

“I believe in longevity,” skin specialist Rosa Scialo, founder of BodySense Beauty Treatments says. “Therefore I offer a more holistic approach to skincare that gets to the root cause of the problem—instead of masking it.”

Rosa recently added five new simple, safe and science-backed solutions to skincare that can help you turn back the hands of time on signs of ageing, without an injection in sight.

Non-invasive skin care treatments

  1. BioRePeel (TCA 35%)

If you’re keen to unlock a healthy, radiant glow, want to rid pigmentation and/or improve the texture of your skin, then a TCA BioRePeel is the most advanced medical grade peel on the skincare market—as it can target all skin concerns at once with minimal-to-no-shedding.

And multiple studies confirm this, including an article published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology where authors said chemical peels are a ‘generally safe’ method for treatment of some skin disorders and to refresh and rejuvenate skin.

A BioRePeel has exfoliating and keratolytic action which promotes cell turnover by removing the outer layer of skin cells to effectively prevent ageing and oxidative damage caused by UV light and pollution.

“The good news is that this ‘workhorse’ of a treatment offers immediate results and an instant glow,” Rosa says. “But, perhaps even more importantly, long term, BioRePeel helps to fight fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid deep within the layers of skin.”

  1. Hydra-dermabrasion

Hydra-dermabrasion exfoliates, cleanses and nourishes the skin. And, according to researchers in a 2024 study, this ‘mild’ treatment is perfect for individuals wanting smoother skin without any inflammation or bruises.

“We like to think of our hydra-dermabrasion as the three-in-one treatment that provides a safe, effective and simple solution to skin resurfacing,” Rosa explains.

The first step is a mechanical treatment that gently removes the upper most outer layer of dead skin cells. The next step is oxygen infusion, which uses a serum infusion applicator to apply a deep skin hydration and boosting serum. The last step is Cryoskin tightening, which helps to shrink pores, improve blood flow, boost lymphatic stimulation and create a more even skin tone.

“It’s the perfect trifecta for boosting all-important collagen, elasticity and infusing skin with minerals and vitamins that will help soothe and calm,” Rosa adds.

  1. Mesotherapy electroporation (needle-free)

Containing no-needles, this state-of-the-art skin rejuvenating technique offers deep skin revival and restoration and better yet, it’s pain-free.

Hailed as the most powerful method of ‘transdermal administration’ (delivery through the skin), mesotherapy electroporation delivers micro electro pulses through the dermal skin layers to encourage deeper penetration of serums and vitamins. This results in muscle tone, reduced puffiness and improved skin condition.

“Electroporation is comparable to injections, as this infusion therapy will transfer up to 70% of serums into your skin, as opposed to 10% achieved by other more traditional methods,” Rosa says. Plus, according to research published in the 2022 volume of the Journal of Drug delivery and Science and Technology, mesotherapy electroporation can ‘restore’ the structure of the outermost layer of the skin in a short time after the treatment.

  1. Microcurrent

Often referred to as a ‘non surgical face lift’, microcurrent technology is one of the hottest innovations in the anti-ageing industry.

“Microcurrents work by targeting the muscles under the skin that cause our skin to wrinkle and sag,” Rosa explains. “It does this by sending gentle waves to the muscles to help relax overworked muscles and strengthen under-worked ones. This clever tech essentially ‘re-educates’ facial muscles, restoring them back to their original state.”

According to a 2024 study, published in the Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, devices for facial rejuvenation can ‘positively impact’ various aspects of facial aging, such as wrinkles, facial sagging, skin tightness and radiance.

“So the proof is in the pudding!” Rosa adds. “This treatment works really well with radio frequency, as microcurrent tightens the muscles and radio frequency tightens the skin.”

  1. Cryo Freeze

Have you got benign skin tags, cherry angiomas, age spots or warts you’d like to remove quickly, effectively, safely and painlessly?

Then, Cryo Freeze can help. The freezing technique can rid superficial skin lesions and, as stated in the 2017 book, Cryotherapy for Cosmetic Procedures, it’s considered to be a ‘versatile treatment option’ for benign lesions, with rapid delivery and low cost.

“We use a high-tech Cryo Freeze pen on the area in question which works by releasing a cryogenic liquid that cools to temperatures as low as -89°C,” Rosa explains. “As the skin warms up and heals, the damaged lesions and dead cells are naturally sloughed off.”

Unfortunately, the NHS no longer funds treatment for GPs to treat benign skin lesions. This means, if you go down the private route, you will incur expensive dermatology costs.

But Cryo Freeze is a relatively low-risk treatment and side effects and complications are usually minimal. However, it’s important that you are informed about your skin condition and any proposed treatment, including the potential benefits and risks involved.
