‘Superfood for the skin’: New BB Glow treatment is your shortcut to a flawless face

Is your skin dull or lacks that vitality and healthy glow you dream about? Do you have dark circles under your eyes? Have you got acne scars you want to cover? Do you want to minimise the appearance of large pores? Or, like 94% of people in this survey published in the Dermatologic Surgery journal, perhaps you just want to have radiant-looking, healthy and glowing skin morning, noon and night?

If you nodded along to any (or all) of the above, achieving this desired outcome need not feel out of reach. And it’s all thanks to BodySense Beauty Treatments’ new semi-permanent, anti-aging, collagen-inducing facial procedure — the BB Glow.

What is a BB Glow treatment?

In a nutshell: a BB Glow treatment mimics the effects of wearing a lightweight foundation or a BB cream without the time, fuss, and hassle of applying it each day. Along with camouflaging the imperfections — it treats them too.

“The BB Glow is also a collagen induction treatment that’s packed with perfecting complexion qualities,” award-winning beauty therapist and owner of BodySense Beauty Treatments, Rosa Scialo, explains. “It’s where beauty meets skincare — which is why I call this facial ‘superfood for the skin’.”

How does it work?

The BB Glow gets its name from the popular BB creams (also called Blemish Balm, Blemish Base or Beauty Balm) available on today’s beauty shelves. BB creams were designed to be used as a convenient all-in-one product which acts as your foundation, moisturiser and SPF.

And a BB Glow is just as hardworking. Hailing from Korea, where flawless skin is the number one beauty must-have, the minimally invasive and non-surgical procedure uses a highly effective and organic tinted pigment which is colour-matched to your skin.

It’s important to note that the intention of this treatment is not to make your skin lighter or darker, although there is an option to do so if you wish to improve the appearance of unwanted blemishes such as birthmarks, freckles and hyperpigmentation. There are six different pigments which can be mixed to colour match your skin or blended to give the desired colour.

The treatment is applied using a pain-free flat-headed nano needle which gently glides over your face without piercing the skin. With each sweep, the paddles of the needles delicately push the colour-perfect pigment into your skin.

Rosa explains: “The nano needles stimulates skin rejuvenation as the organic pigment is infused with a total of 25 different vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients (including the likes of niacinamide, Vitamin A, Vitamin K and hyaluronic acid) each of which are pushed into the top layers of the epidermis.”

What do these vitamins do?

Niacinamide works hard to visibly minimise enlarged pores, soften fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness and improve uneven skin tone.

Vitamin A (more informally known as retinol) stimulates the production of collagen to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, stimulates cell turnover and decreases oil production.

Then there’s Vitamin K, which can improve your skin's ability to heal wounds. And as for hyaluronic acid, this skincare hero can keep your face hydrated and plump around the clock.

“Essentially, a BB Glow is a complexion enhancement treatment which can improve the texture of your skin, the quality and the tone,” Rosa notes.

What are the benefits?

Results are immediate and there’s no downtime. In fact, one hour-long treatment can last up to 3-4 weeks, depending on the skin type, which makes it a great procedure to have before a special event. However, a course of 3 or 4 weekly treatments would give you more coverage and longevity, lasting up to 3-4 months depending on your skin type.

The benefits include:

  • An instantly radiant and even complexion that doesn’t rub off, wash off or slide off your face no matter if you’ve been sweating, swimming or in the shower

  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

  • Reduced inflammation and redness in rosacea sufferers

  • Brightens your skin

  • Hydrates it too

  • Gives you an instant soft glow

Where do I sign up?

“Some people like to blur their freckles or age spots, others may want to camouflage their acne scars and some might just want to wake up with no dark circles and a more even skin tone,” Rosa explains.

“If you’re someone who wants speed in the morning and convenience and hasn’t got time to put foundation on or concealer, or maybe foundation doesn’t always work for you because you’re active, maybe a runner or swimmer, the BB Glow is the answer you’ve been looking for.”
